Peter Sterlacci of Believe. Become. Be Your Brand is holding a September Vlogathon in which every day he posts a daily video from a different thought leader expressing their views on personal branding.
You may remember that Peter recently interviewed me for his ‘mechanics’ of personal branding video series. It was a great interview and so when he asked of I would participate in the vlogathon, I jumped at the chance.
The topic I decided to present is Does Your LinkedIn Profile Support or Hurt Your Personal Brand?
I provide 5 telltale signs to determine how your LinkedIn profile affects your personal brand:
1. Profile Picture
Do you use a professionally taken headshot as your LinkedIn profile picture or is your profile picture one that was snapped at a wedding?
2. Headline
Is your headline a benefit statement, chock full of keywords or is it your current title and company?
3. Summary
Did you write a narrative that starts with an introduction and your elevator pitch and then talks about your benefits and impact? Or did you copy and paste your resume?
4. Contact Info
Do you include the different methods of contacting you? Or did you omit that information?
5. Customized Public URL
Is your public profile URL customized with your name or does it contain a jumble of letters and numbers and the word, “pub?”
